Executive Chef and owner Nick Mahlook has a simple and honest approach to cooking, honing in on locally sourced produce thats true refinement is in the art of reduction, not overcomplicating. Returning to his hometown of Lakes Entrance after 20+ years in some of Melbourne’s finest establishments including Stokehouse and The Atlantic as both Head and Executive Chef, Nick brings a wealth of knowledge to the table.

While seafood sits at the heart of Sodafish, the menu is led by produce. Fresh local fish from neighbouring fishermen is paired with seasonal vegetables from surrounding farmlands and carefully selected cuts of meat all cooked simply, generously and with restraint.
Sodafish is a family affair. Alongside his wife Emma (also local), and their daughters, Liv and Goldie, Nick has created a place that feels relaxed, welcoming and grounded in everyday rituals.
Downstairs, Crudo extends the experience—a wine and provisions store offering exceptional deli meats and cheeses, freshly baked sourdough, rolls and pizza slices, and wine for retail from Sodafish's carefully curated list. Ideal for a beautiful antipasto platter or a relaxed takeaway lunch.
